Hiya everyone, i am hoping to get some advice on here. My daughter is in year one. She is a bright child in reception she would come home with gold stars nearly every other week with mentions in the weekly newsletter. She was doing really well from what we could see. Come year 1 this is has all stopped. All her other friends seems to getting gold stars etc and my daughter has not in a while. I can't help but think of there was something wrong. I know her her teacher has changed and that could be a reason but i just wanted to get some advice if i wanted to bring it up with the school, how would i do it? Looking forward to hearing some good advice. Thank you x

Perhaps they can’t giving out as many. Is she worried about it? Have you had any feedback about how she is settling into school?

Don't worry about it. Is your daughter worried?

Thank you for the responses, she doesn't seem worried but its so strange. Last few days she has mentioned she didn't want to go to school when we get to the school gates. Running up to getting to school shes fine. But when she gets to the door, she says she doesn't want to go to school. Like i said this is been the last few days. Maybe i am worried for not reason but because i know what she's like, a bright and smart child i can't help but wonder this may play on her mind seeing all the other kids get these stickers and not her. I have sent and email to the office team to see if i can get a meeting with the teachers. I know the teachers are slightly strict this year but i am just a bit worried 😫

You are asking for a meeting in year 1 over this?!

Bristolinfeb · 31/01/2025 17:04

You don’t need to meet the teachers about it.

Ask your DD once why she hasn’t wanted to go into school this week. It’s probably not related. They all say this at some point, ahe probably just fancies a day at home.

I guess, I have seen a few kids say this to their parents. Maybe i am worried for no reason but i will ask my daughter in the morning why she doesn't want to go to school. Thank you everyone for your help and advice x
