Hi, so I just completed my sons first DLA renewal. I called up on the 13th Jan to make sure the forms arrived and was told yes they were received on the 3rd of Jan and that a decision had already been made! Great! I was in shock it was so quick and didn't ask if it's been renewed or rates. So, I'm checking my postbox and bank account like a crazy woman and nothing yet. My Q is. If it's been renewed at a higher rate, would the change take effect immediately? Or would it start when the current award ends? If it's been declined, would i still receive his money until the award was due to end? It runs out on the 6th Feb and a payment is due next week. Thanks, I've tried to Google but not getting a straight answer and if I'm honest, I'm worrying it's been declined.

Usually if it's been renewed at a higher rate you'd get a back payment of the different between old and new rates, this is usually 3-5 days after a decision is made. If it's kept the same, normal payments just continue. If it's been stopped then it would usually be paid until the end of the original award. I say usually, as there can be other things that affect timings of awards eg age and when difficulties started etc

Thank you, still waiting on the letter to arrive so absolutely clueless to outcome, don't want to keep bothering them so will just wait and see.
