Disabled child element universal credit

Hi looking for some advice. I been claiming dla and carers allowance since jan 2023. I only just found out I should also be getting disabled child element nobody ever told me about it. I can't find how to claim for it? I wrote in my journal if someone can contact me as I should be getting paid d.c.e not heard nothing back yet? I wrote in journal back in 2023 now claiming dla then carers allowance was told nothing about disabled child element can this also be back dated ? Thanks in advance to any advice. Lou

You need to call the UC advice line, the free phone number. If you're entitled then they can tell you what to do. I don't know if you just need to answer a couple of questions or do a full questionnaire about it.

I think there is criteria, ie high rate care
they might backdate it, I had a job getting tax credits to backdate my sons £ but I do think uc are a bit more reasonable so you might be lucky I hope so. There’s also a carers element if you care for more than 35 hours so ask about that too. Do fight it, there will be someone with more info than me I’m sure. Gd luck

Report a change children and others living with you,
date of change is dla awarded from
click on child’s name

you will need to ask on your journal under payments if disabled child element can be backdated to the start of the award. It will go to a decision maker to decide. You may get it backdated you may not. They usually not take into account not knowing as a good reason

Can anyone help been awarded disability child element and they owe me about two years maybe a little under they said I could have it in lump sum or separate if I have lump sum will they take anything out off my universal credit thanks
