Hi,

I was called by a no win no fee person from a call centre telling me he can get me compensation for personal injury and it will not cost me anything and its a free service. I didn't want to make any claim but he kept on hassling me. I spoke to someone stating they were from a law firm only once and didn't pursue it any further. I received a bill from the company stating I need to pay them £1,500 for doing absolutely nothing. They are threatening to take me to court as well. This is affecting my mental health and wellbeing.
I would be very grateful for any help and advice please?

The man told me it was a free service and there will be no charge. So I didn't think I needed to inform them I didn't want to go ahead with it. He put me under pressure and was harassing me. He misled me and lied to me. How can they do this and then say they haven't defrauded me or scammed me. I don't need the stress. I'm going to sue the cold caller and the company in court and make a negligence claim against the company for causing me so much distress and putting me through this trauma.

I would suggest you sort out the immediate issue before you talk about suing. Is there a legally binding contract based on the communication you can show? They need to demonstrate that there is.

The service would be "free" if you had won your case. If the guy no longer works, or was merely an intermediary, for the company now asking for their fee you might have difficulty with such a claim. It could be a lengthy and costly process with no guarantee of success.

Yes I understand what you are saying but I was told it was a free service by the cold caller, who now no longer exists snd has changed both of his numbers. He had the time to keep on calling me and lieing to me about the service, and that ive got nothing to worry about as its all free. He was telling me lies and just misleading me just to get his commission. The solicitor from the firm didn't tell me there would be any charge. Nothing was said about it. How can they defraud someone like this and take advantage of someone who has no knowledge of a service. They are frauds and liars.

How many emails did you receive from them and what was in those emails? Check for attachments. Law firms are not stupid. They are not going to do something like not provide people with terms and conditions.

This is good advice. When you speak to the CAB you need details of what each email contained so that they have full knowledge of the communication between you. All the emails that you have ignored need opening and you need to ideally print them out of make sure you can open them to show the CAB.

Please be much clearer with the facts than you have been here when you speak to CAB.
They need clear and concise information and evidence rather than accusations of fraud and lies.
It will give you a much better chance of getting the help you need

Seriously, you need to stop with the hysterical talk of suing them and calling them fraudsters etc. Someone earlier gave you very good advice on what to bring with you to CAB. You need to remove the emotion from this and tell them exactly when you spoke to this person, what was said or signed, copies of emails etc. They can look at this issue without the emotion and help you sort it. You are wasting your energy on anything else.

It is not a "free" service. It is a no win no fee, service. If you do not win, there is no fee. If you do win, then there is a fee. There will also be contained within the t&C's that if you discontinue against their advice, that there will also be a fee.

You need to be much clearer with what you have and have not signed. We are unable to help because you can't tell us what you have and haven't signed.
