I've been going through a very difficult time with housing over the past few months. My landlord has decided to sell my property and has served me with a section 21 eviction. I've been in my house for nearly 12 years.
I'm on the council list, in band A, but have still been advised that I'm unlikely to obtain a council property anytime soon. I've been searching for a private rented property, but with the rent prices being so high and landlords wanting guarantors that earn so much times the rent every year, it's been impossible.
Luckily, a friend has put a good word in for me with a woman she knows, she has a lovely 3 bedroom property and is not charging the earth rent wise.
I have 4 children, all boys aged 20, 13, 9 and 4. I am entitled to a 4 bed rate from the LHA, however, my question is, I will be using the second reception room for myself as a bedroom, would I still be able to claim for 4 bedrooms even though the house is 3 beds and I'm using the extra room downstairs as the 4th bedroom?
