Pram advice wanted

What pram do you find works for you?

I want something very easy to fold (as dd will not put put down while I take the pram in and out of car).

But I still want something that looks good. Also don't want to spend a fortune.

I did have the quinny zapp. I think it is rubbish. DD is 9months and when she falls asleep she can not lie back. So needs to change position.

I was thinking McClaren, any other suggestions?

What do you find most important features of your pram? I ask this as we do not use the pram much so just wanted some good advice really.

Thanks x

Maclaren Quest - one hand fold/unfold and has a carry handle on the side to put in and out of car.

Maclaren Techno too - same pluses and a few more; better foot thing for the brakes and seems a bit sturdier (having said that my Quest did DS from 6m-4.5 and has gone on to do my cousin's DD from 6m plus)

Silvercross Pop is meant to be good and a tenner cheaper than the Quest www.kiddicare.com do videos of various strollers so you can see them working

Just had a quick look at the kiddicare clip of the Pop and it is 99% the same as the Quest

The seat looks the same, same wheels, same collapsing method... the only differences I can see is the price and the recline - Pop is a strap that does however far back you want, Quest has 4 particular places.

my friend's had both a maclaren and a pop and says they don't last very well and the wheels wear out quickly if you use it everyday.

I bought a Maclaren techno xt when dd1 was 6mths old. It was used nearly every day and is still in good condition and being used for my second dd who is now 10mths old.

The wheels are fine, haven't worn down at all though I think that is more common with the quests.

Had a quest to begin with but didn't like the fact the hood wasn't attached to the seat so wind/rain could get in also brakes were rubbish. When had 2nd invested in a techno and love it! Been using for most days now for nearly 2 years and still as good as new.

It seems McClaren is a real winner, I was advised to get one when I was pregnant. But I choose to go for style and not comfort (as you can probably tell I am a 1st time parent). I will no better next time. Going to buy one now tho...

Rosyra I think we ALL went for style over comfort first time

I hated my first pram because it was enormous (my ex picked it and refused to change it!) then I had to get a cheap Mothercare stroller, but then when I left him, I upgraded to a Maclaren Quest when DS was 6 months old and it's still going strong with no wear n tear and it's done him 4 yrs and my cousin's baby nearly a yr already... she's still using it

Having said that, if you can afford a bit more, I'd go for the Techno XT (even on ebay) because it is ever so slightly sturdier looking and the brakes are easier etc etc... but the best thing to do is to go to Mothercare and compare them side by side
