3 month old head rubbing!

Hi everyone,

3 month old won’t stop rubbing / scratching his head and it’s driving me mad! I don’t think he has eczema as it will completely disappear but he rubs his eyes and forehead when he’s tired and putting himself to sleep, which as a result means his forehead and eyebrow area are quite red and inflamed most of the time.

I’ve tried scratch mits, I’ve tried swaddling (but he has now attempted to roll so I’ve had to stop), I’ve tried aveeno and every moisturiser I can think of. I’ve tried putting him to sleep before he gets really tired. I’ve taken him to the doctors who said just keep doing what I’m doing and prescribed hydrocortisone for occasional use, which does work to clear the angry redness but I’m worried about it getting in his eyes so can only really apply it when he’s in a deep sleep, or he’ll just rub it off.

Could it be eczema? Is it something he will grow out of?

I know it’s not the end of the world but it looks so sore sometimes poor thing. He is formula fed just to add.

Just wondering if anyone else’s little ones did this and any tips?

It is probably the formula you are giving him that is causing the reaction. See your gp and ask him to try a different one.
