Tacky or not?

Hi all,
Been lurking for some time, but haven't posted in aaaaaaaages (and with a different name)
I was hoping i could ask the board's advice in a matter of taste, please.
For our forthcoming anniversary, DH has offered to buy me an item of jewellery and this has caught my eye.
I like things a bit individual and I think this particular desire stems from having an unusual name, which I really like, and being unable, as a child to find those personalised items in the tacky souvenir shops.
Of course, the tackiness of such things has suddenly led to wonder if wearing a necklace like this would make me look tacky or, heaven forfend, chavvy....!?
The other thing is, as this is obviously a trend started by Sex and the City's Carrie (never watched the show personally) would I come across looking like a fashion victim a few years too late?
Your thoughts are welcome.
Thanks x

why not go for Tatty Devine's perspex version on a silver chain - much more individual !

Jewelery is personal. If you love it, have it. I wear unusual stuff that isn't to everyone's taste, but the world would be boring if we all wore the same stuff.
