My anxiety is rife. No points on my licence. No
previous trouble at all with police.
Was driving on m1 last week and variable speed limit went down to 20mph and no one seemed to slow down so I just went with flow. Next thing in mirror i see speed camera flashing non stop, assuming at all of us. Knew Id been flashed. Had letter a few days later I was going 40mph and I sent back it was me immediately.
Today had a letter that I can't have a fixed penalty notice due to the speed and expect a summons in due course.
My head feels like about to explode as never had experience of this.
Anyone got any experience as I'm catastrophising I am going to prison.

You will get points - I think up to 6, a fine up to 100% of your weekly income and maybe a ban for upto a month. No prison time

Just a few months ago a bloke local to me smashed up a load of brand new top of the range police cars which were parked up right outside the police station, causing over £50,000 worth of damage, and then assaulted an officer as he was being arrested.
He had a long list of convictions and he was in breach of a community order, and he was not sent to prison because they are far too full.

You will get some points and a small fine.

Stop being dramatic.

You can normally plead guilty by post. Points and fine.

Were you going 40, or more than 40?

If 40 then Band B fine (75-125% of weekly income), 4-6 points or 7-28 day disqualification.

Anything over 40, Band C fine (125-175% of weekly income), 6 points or 7-56 day disqualification.

BUT that said technically & legally if you’re caught doing 50% above the speed limit you can be given an instant driving ban.
