Ingrown toenail surgery

Has anyone experience of there son daughter having the sides of the nail cut out due to ingrown nail how where they with it ? My son is due to have it and I'm feeling anxious

I'm not going to lie,the injections are painful after that it's a breeze.

Make sure it's done by a podiatrist- even the injection didn't hurt much. After that it is so so much better than the pain of the ingrowing toenail.

Thank you for replying it is a podiatrist he just hates needles so worrying about the injection how long does is last

I'd strongly advise not thinking about it, it's definitely a situation where more info is not helpful and freaks you out. I shut my eyes and let them get on with it.

I had it done on both big toes at the ages of 12 and 15

It was a local anaesthetic (possibly two), completely painless at the time, bloody agony to walk for a few days after, left me using a stick/crutch each time to hobble around for about a week

It is vitally important to keep it elevated and thoroughly, scrupulously clean those first few days

I have never had any issues into adult life except a small tendency to minor whitlows if I have a long day walking

Thank you for you reply's he has had it done this morning I was suprised how well he dealt with the injection I think I just freaked myself out reading online
