yES BUT NOT ALL TEACHERS IN nut.

MerlinsBeard · 21/04/2008 09:43

our school is not on strike even the NUT teachers.

Ring the school if you haven;t been told yet.

Tigerschick · 21/04/2008 09:44

I would imagine there will be a letter coming home if there is going to be any disruption.
Or you could ring the school, but they've probably had loads of calls already so be prepared for them to be a little short with you.

Hulababy · 21/04/2008 09:46

Some are yes, but only NUT. Some schools have had to close, others are stayoing open. Your child's school should have let you know what is happening at your school - if heard nthing \I would assume school is open.

We've had a letter stating the teachers support the action but have agreed not to strike

Alambil · 21/04/2008 09:47

I don't think it's that widespread actually.

From what I can gather from the teachers at DS's school, they aren't willing to disrupt the schools that much and are really against the strike. They say there are better ways to get the point across etc and they've only striked when the unions have forced the matter (or when they were newer teachers/a bit more naive etc) so they won't do it this time.

I don't know how common that idea is though. I suggest a call to the school or LEA?

hoxtonchick · 21/04/2008 09:48

we had a letter before the holidays saying the strike would go ahead. ds is back at school tomorrow so i'm hoping we'll get another letter saying they're not going to go ahead. who knows...

Right here, Juniors are shut infants are open.

Then the following Thurs all shut again for voting and inset.

Then something about later they each have a different inset day but I lost concentration as that wasn't until June.

Our school is shut and I am delighted tbh. I go back to work after ml next week so the prospedt of a bonus day with my big girls is a lovely treat. Of course - if I had been back at work I would be livid....

Dd2's school is shut completely on Thursday, ds's school is shutting certain classes only (not his class, as it happens). And dd2's school is closed today as well for a stealth inset day that I'd somehow managed to avoid knowing about. [crap mother alert]

saadia · 21/04/2008 10:04

Ds missed last week of term but I found out from another mum this morning that in his year two teachers are striking, but not his teacher, so he still has to go.

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 21/04/2008 10:06

If you google your local authority, they will have on their site which schools are closing on thursday.

Dd1's school is closed to most pupils, but open for kids doing exams, mocks, resits etc.

Dd2's school is open completely.
