Paint colour help

I’ve just had Egyptian Cotton painted on the walls in my South East facing living room. I can’t believe how gloomy it’s looking, almost a grey green, nothing like the test papers I did, it clashes badly with my Bath stone fireplace. I had a yellow colour before which was too yellow so I was looking for something less obvious. I’m now thinking maybe Dimity, Slipper Satin or Dulux summer linen would be better. Already made the mistake of buying Dulux heritage Ancient Sandstone which I felt was too heavy, hence the shift to Egyptian Cotton. Completely lost confidence in my paint choice now! Anyone out there able to suggest an alternative?

What kind of look are you wanting? (There's a Home Decor forum on here too -- you might want to get this moved?]

I don't think it calshes badly as such, but your walls, fireplace, and carpet are all too much of a muchness. You do need some contrast.

For what it's worth, I love Egyptian Cotton. There's a reason it's been a favourite for the last 25 years. I do think you need a totally different colour, though.

I have Mushroom by Little Greene, as I have a cream woodburning stove. Request a colour chart from them and see what you think. I fell in love with their paints about 7 years ago and won't use anything else now (shade wise. Paint wise, I get it mixed at B&Q with Valspar Premium)
