Hi, i feel petty but i would like others opinions.

My ex claims benefits and pip etc claiming they cant walk more than 50m and their condition causes them to be bed ridden a majority of the time, saying they cant uses buses or taxis etc because the bumps cause severe pain.
However they go out weekly drinking and abroad.

I feel crappy even saying it because its an ex and not an attack or revenge just morally not right. Their condition deteriorated in the time we were divorced but the drunk calls sending me pictures is whats driving me to this point.

What do you think i should do?

Nothing at all.

Worthalltheyears · 07/09/2024 20:06

Report him. Why should we all pay for him?

MsPavlichenko · 07/09/2024 20:07

Nothing, it’s none of your business. Block them if you don’t want any communication.

FYI, it’s incredibly difficult to get PIP, it’s not simply a form filling exercise. That said disabled people are allowed to both go out to pubs, and indeed abroad.

MsWalker · 07/09/2024 20:13

I always contemplate blocking them however we have children so i need a line of communication open for them

also i know the process for claiming PIP is long a stressful, that being said if you lie on those forms, or lie to universal credit about your ability to physically get about, thats what i meant
i know people with disabilities are allowed to go to pubs XD

thank you for your comment

sigh, how many times does it have to be said, that a person needs medical evidence to support any claim for PIP. Otherwise anybody, could in theory say anything. They don't just accept whatever they are told on the form. PIP is very difficult to get. They don't just hand out cash because Martin wrote that he has a bad back, and dodgy walk.

PrawnAgain · 07/09/2024 20:19

It's not just a form to fill in. People have to be assessed by a health care professional for over an hour. If your ex has been awarded pip after this it's because he qualifies for it.

YourSnugHazelTraybake · 07/09/2024 20:23

To get pip what you claim on the form has to be backed up by medical evidence, if it was as simple as just filling in a form then more people would get it. For him to be getting it then a doctor or specialist has confirmed his diagnoses. Just because he holidays and drinks does not mean he's not disabled ffs. Travelling probably does cause pain , but he'd rather suffer than live isolated looking at 4 walls. He may be on extremely strong painkillers to cope with it. I think you should stop being so judgmental and ableist.

LadyKenya · 07/09/2024 20:27

The OP said that his condition has deteriorated in her OP, so he obviously has a medical condition then.

Honourthyname7 · 07/09/2024 22:00

Maybe he’s just sinning differently to you maybe he’s genuine. Unless he’s hurting someone butt out, none of us stand high enough to play god.
