I bought a jacket from Vinted described as ‘real leather, very good condition’. On arrival it was fake leather, the surface of the collar was peeling so bad that particles were dropping out of the wrapper when I opened it. The zip was also broken. None of this was obvious on the seller’s photos as she had hid the damaged collar with a hefty wooden coat hanger and photographed the jacket unzipped.
When the seller did not respond I followed procedure and activated the ‘I have an issue’ button, I sent photos and an explanation to customer services all within one hour of delivery, an automated response advised customer services would contact me within 48hrs and not to respond further as it could ‘clog up their system’ I waited, but no response.
To cut a long story short I got back to Vinted when the 48hrs expired only to find that they had released payment to the seller. They accused me of not contacting them early enough and there was nothing they could do.
I pursued to no avail. Customer services would say yes I can help with this, please send details (again) then I would get the same automated response regarding my not contacting them within 48 hrs so they couldn’t help, it’s just a repeated loop.
I ran this through the platform ‘Resolver’ as they are in breach of contract given that I paid payment protection, but it’s become so time consuming and tiresome that I’ve closed my Vinted account and left.
I did leave the seller a negative review in the end, she did not refute it or respond so clearly she knew exactly what she had done by ripping off a customer.
I just wanted to advise people of my dreadful experience and basically make people aware, and wondered if this lack of customer support was commonplace with Vinted?
Thanks for reading guys.
