Is there anything we can do about an impending speeding prosecution on Tower Bridge?

....past paying it?!! I've had the speeding prosecution letter this morning (addressed to me but was dh driving!) and it says that he was going 28mph in a 20 zone. Neither dh or I remember the 20mph sign (although we could just have not been looking closely enough) and he thought it was a 30 zone (hence the 28mph) Is it worth putting in a letter or doing anything else? Most put out as neither of us have been nabbed before! TIAxx

And the guidelines are that you will just get a fixed penalty notice for going less than 10mph over the limit, so I wouldn't worry about court

yes, my DH has been through all this too!

oops

A couple of years ago my DH got a notice for doing 54 in a 30 at some roadworks..we had both been there and did not see any signs, and at any roadworks we had been through we had done under 30..to this day it is a mystery and we wonder if someone else had whizzed past us and set off the cameras!! Of course as he was thinking it was a 60 limit he was doing 54...so got a court summons, we appealed and managed to get it down to 5 points instead of 6 and a £300 fine...ouch!!

So have done a lot of reading about this subject, unfortunately

But note..28 in a 20 is nothing like this and I am sure you would never have to go to court for it!!!

Just found this:

so maybe you WILL be offered a speed awareness course after all

herecomethegirls - thanks loads! I will show the dh and see what he thinks. Glad we won't be looking at a £300 fine - that's seriously steep

Cod - please don't say it's a £400 fine?!! If it is that's us on bread and water for a month!!

I think that was meant to say 40..(as in 40mph) - a fixed penalty is £60..worry not!

AHHHHH - thanks...blood pressure coming down!!!

But it also does seem they are treating Tower Bridge as a special case and offering a speed awareness course instead, so don't despair
