Contact lense disposal

Hey everyone,
I've recently realized that I've been disposing of my contact lenses the wrong way. I've been flushing them down the toilet every night without really thinking about it.
I thought it was no big deal, but I recently read somewhere that this could be causing environmental issues. Apparently, the lenses don’t break down and can end up in our waterways, which is pretty concerning.
So, I'm here looking for advice. What’s the best way to dispose of contact lenses? Are there any eco-friendly options out there that I should be using?

I recycle my lenses and the packaging at my optician

I just put mine in the bin.
Probably the biggest impact you can make would be changing to monthly or bi-weekly rather than daily.

I just put them in the bin. Or maybe I lose them.

I drop them down the side of my bed and occasionally gather them up and bin. I recycle the cases at my optician.
