Have you guys used the find a prisoner service, how long did it take you? and if the prisoner was to reject my request, would the service inform me of the decision?

Prisons are overwhelmed at the moment because of SDS 40 (early release scheme) so it might take longer than usual. It's usually up to ten working days, but I can imagine it will be longer at the moment. If you've given a legitimate reason for your request eg immediate family member, or need to contact them to tell them a family member is dying/deceased etc, they will tell you where the person is, you can then write to them at that prison or request a visit, some prisons have the email a prisoner service, they would need to add you to their visitor list for that bit and of course they would have to want to return any communication, but LAP will tell you where they are.

Just to add they wouldn't tell you if there were any restrictions on contact such as a restraining order

thank you for your message, what do you mean about the restrictions and restraining order part?

If you are a named party on a restrictions list or restraining order then they won’t tell you the location of the service user/prisoner.
