I’ve been bitten by a mosquito whilst on holiday in Italy and I’m worried it’s possibly infected. I’m not 100% sure though? What do you guys think? I’m 22 weeks pregnant so quite paranoid!

Have you been scratching it?

A reaction like that is quite normal for me, and wouldn't indicate an infection. How would you normally react?

How do you normally react to bites?

Infected insect bites are rare.

Dramatic reactions to insect bites misdiagnosed as infection are common.

I haven’t been scratching it, but it’s definitely been rubbing off my other leg when I’ve been side sleeping. I usually react quite badly to bites, but those streaks have never appeared before.

I react like that and/or they blister. You need antihistamines so get to a pharmacy. What do you have to take away the itch?

Hi OP. Could be a slight allergic reaction. Either way, if you are pregnant you should only take the drowsy Piriton as an antihistamine without consulting a healthcare professional first.
