I dont really know where to start, since lockdown my child has told me a little about how their father used to shout etc and that they did not want to go back for contact. At that time they were 16 so I reassured they did never go back if they did not want to.

Since then more has come out and now a counsellor has recommended that they write a letter and either send it or burn it. They have written a letter and sent me a copy.

I am beside myself with the hurt that my child went through, from making them crawl when they were 5 because they acted like a "baby" by crying at being shouted at, being called a whore at 13 when they got a boy friend, being slapped across the face.. the things are endless.

I am supporting my child.

My child is on the waiting list for autism and never told me anything when they were younger. They were too scared to say anything.

I dont know how to cope with this. I am just about holding myself together. I think they should go to the police about this abuse.

Their counsellor thinks they have PTSD from that they went through.

can anyone help me with contacting the police or know of anyone else that has gone down this line with emotional abuse as a child and bringing a case?

any input is welcome.

thank you
