DH's birthday

What can I do for DH's birthday - it's the first one he's had since DS (now 9mo) was born. He's a fantastic Daddy (currently bathing DS - wonderful man!) and I really want to make it a birthday to remember.

We aren't loaded with cash, his birthday's the end of January, so hardly 'sunny' anywhere and his actual birthday's a weekday (and I work Sundays and am unlikely to get leave either side of it).

I'm thinking of taking him out for dinner on the night of his birthday (he'll love this), but what can DS 'get' for him? Actually, I'm tempted to ask him to take the day off, but where to go? Perhaps Kew, but only if the weather's good.

Am I rambling? Yep! Do you have any ideas?

Do you have a good picture of dh and ds that you can have framed for him?
For fathers day a couple of years ago, I took some black and white photos of dh with ds - just normal snaps so that dh thought nothing of it. I had them developed picked the best two and framed them for him. Simple, but he loved it, and still has the photos by his side of the bed.

Why not go to Kew for the Saturday, if the weathers not good, a long lunch in Richmond maybe?

Photos are a great idea - I'll get snapping

Do yo have a craft cafe near you? You could get ds to do hand prints on a mug / plate etc for him.

DH loved the talking alarm clock DSs got him this year. You put a photo in it and can record your child's voice to be used as the alarm. DHs has the DSs shouting "wake up daddy, it's morning!" but you could just as easily have your DSs giggling or gurgling.

Unfortunately I can't find it anywhere now! It was a First Years Voice Recording Photo Frame and I got mine from Jojomamanbebe but it's not in their catalogue now.

Zubb's idea is a good one - I did that for fathers day when ds1 was just a few months old. He really cherishes it.

Aw - lovely ideas! DS will wonder what's hit him when I point a camera at him, wipe paint on him and make him giggle at a clock, but hey, all in the name of cute things for Daddy!
