Do your parents buy you presents or give you money for your birthdays? Or do you only get a card? I wondered because my friend only ever gets a card from her parents and friends. No gift or treat. I must be very fortunate to get very nice and thoughtful things from my Mum and Dad, also from my workmates.

My mother used to give me money in a card.It was a bit hit and miss….anything from £10 to £100. She is now in a care home with dementia so I don’t get anything at all. Tbh my parents were never thoughtful gifters and never any fuss made for significant birthdays.

I get nothing but that's at my request. They would otherwise get me a card and a present. DH gets cards and presents from his parents and mine

theywenttoseainasievetheydid So sorry to hear about your mum. My MIL is in a care home, and also has Alzheimer's.
