My 4 year old has a very hot room so I just got him a little sub desk fan.Do you think it’s okay to leave it overnight for him to move the air around in his room?

In this heat it'd be unfair not to.

DreadPirateRobots · 25/06/2024 18:43

Of course. Why wouldn't it be?

MumChp · 25/06/2024 18:44

Why not?

Tulipvase · 25/06/2024 18:45

is he likely to touch it? But yes, otherwise fine.

My 4 year old sleeps with one on. Always had in the summer.

YouAndMeAndThem · 25/06/2024 18:50

My 6 year old has a fan on every single night, winter and summer! I'm not sure why it's an issue?

Memelir · 25/06/2024 19:07

I just have always been one of those paranoid mums..I don’t even open my window because I’m scared that someone might kidnap them 🤭🤭But I’m so glad the fan should be okay xx Thanks to everyone

I can guarantee the fan will not kidnap your child.

As long as it's not on the carpet should be ok.

For those asking why not the motors in fans aren't meant for prolonged use do they can overheat which is a fire risk.

Well I'm glad I read this tonight! My sons isn't but he asked and then got distracted and I didn't even think about the fact it may be a safety risk!

Im going against the grain here and I wouldn't. Mine are just sleeping in underwear with a sheet instead of duvet. I'm anxious about these things though, probably completely unreasonably!

I was thinking the potential of a finger between the bars more, we’ve had a fan running every night summer and winter for years. In fact we all have.

Pritas · 25/06/2024 21:09

Get him a proper fan, that fan looks a bit feeble though. My DC always had a fan, never got kidnapped... DS2 used it like white noise to relax. In fact he still does when he comes home to visit.

Yeah that fan isn’t going to touch the sides of the heat. My kids have a tower fan in each of their bedrooms, no blades so no concerns re the motor. Plus they each have a 12hr timer (the fans not the kids).

Could fingers or hair get trapped?
