50th wedding anniversary present

Hi mumsnetters,

I'm looking for ideas for a 50th wedding anniversary present for a couple I don't know that well but they've invited me to their celebration and I'd like to take something other than a bottle of bubbly, which I will do anyway.

Any ideas gratefully received. Budget c.£20

If they have a garden - a plant. Or a houseplant. Or a small piece of art.

Are the couple gardeners?
You could probably buy a golden wedding rose bush.
A picture of a place they love.

Dont buy ornaments.
Or any crockery or linen.

My parents had several plants themed around their Golden Wedding and they are still looked at and commented on whereas the knick-knacks are in a cupboard and hardly looked at!

Appreciate these are over budget for two but it might trigger an idea. Bought some for relatives 50th and they are still in use 10 years on
