Would it be wrong not to go to parents evening?

Supposed to be going to an open evening tonight to discuss how dd1 & dd2 are getting on.

BUT

I feel absolutely shocking, I have the mother of all colds, my chest feels like it is in a vice, I can't breathe and can;t stop sneezing/coughing. And to be honest I don't think I could manage the walk there.

All I want to do is have a hot bath and go to bed.

Would it be wrong for me not to go and try and catch the teachers next week for a couple of minutes (we only have 5 minutes with them anyway)

No not at all. Call the school and tell the office. Then she can pass the message on to the teacher.

Arrange an appointment after school one day when you feel better.

Mrspanic · 08/04/2008 16:44

Not at all unreasonable! If you're that ill you won't in any case be able to pay proper attention to mwhatb you're told.

just reschedule and don't worry. It's not like you're not attending because you can't be bothered.

I don't always go if there's no pressing concern to discuss. Last time my daughter had one we had a logistical problem with my son and I had to ring and cancel.

Don't worry about it.

DH will be disappointed that I haven't gone (he is taking them swimming)

I think I'm going to have to think of what to say to him and pretend that I went

No, tell him the truth.

Bridie3 · 08/04/2008 16:53

YOu can't help being ill and you would be irresponsible to go and breathe germs over teachers.

ScienceTeacher · 08/04/2008 16:54

You are allowed to be ill. Just email the school and ask for any comment. If there are any teachers that you particularly want to see, make an appt with them.

If you feel all is well, then seriously, don't worry about it.

Get DDs to write you a note

Get better soon

EffiePerine · 08/04/2008 16:56

The teachers will not thank you for turning up with your germs (and neither will the other parents). Go to bed

Hulababy · 08/04/2008 16:56

If you are ill then of course you don't have to go. Why not give them a call and tell the office? Then you can send in a letter tomorrow asking the teachers if it is possble to arrange a 5 minute cat with them sometime next week, due to your illness this week.

Radley · 08/04/2008 16:58

Thank you all.

Looks like bed it is then. Got work tomorrow and cant really have any time off so I'm going to fell them all with olbas oil

This cold is a great alternative to a diet, i've lost 1/2 stone so far.

Just let them know that you can't attned, so they don't have to sit round waiting if there is no need.

Hope you feel better soon.
