I'm 31, mum of 2, married buy so lonely. I have more acquaintances than friends. All the school mums already have these cliques and I'm just told there like a spare part. I try talking to people but the cliques are already set in stone it feels.
Does anyone else struggle feeling lonely?

I’ve never felt that I’ve found my ‘tribe’ so to speak. Like you I have acquaintances but nothing like a group that I’m attached to. I realised recently that I don’t think anyone has ever organised a night out or party and specifically invited me. I’m usually a plus one or a group (I.e friends from work).

Dwelling in it makes me feel lonely but not enough that I’ve ever made a concerted effort to do something about it, join a choir, hobby group or some kind of volunteering.

I felt like this too when I moved to a new town a year ago and I know nobody. I looked for other mums who also stand alone and started the make conversation with them. Even just saying hello and standing together helped. This had lead to a real friendship and we now have play dates together.
My next step is to look into joining the PTA. It's not really my thing, but I'm trying to push myself. I am also going to go back to work, so hoping I can fill that lonely void by getting to know more people.
