DLA Renewals

Applied for DLA renewal scan date was 6th March 2024. Received letter 2nd May saying more info needed, upon looking it seems they have lost 2 pages of my application. Had to refill them in & sent back with special delivery. Called after a week to see if they received it, confirmed received. Received another letter last week saying 'we received ur dla claim dated 6th March & are looking into it, can take upto 15 weeks' My son's current DLA runs out on 19th June, 2 weeks left and also received letter from carers allowance saying this will stop. Anyone any advice? Will they make a decission before the current dla expires which is 2 weeks away?

My child's claim ended before they got round to doing it

When we did our last renewal we were told it’s generally the day before renewal a decision is made.

if you can I would phone up at 9am (easiest time to get though) and ask them. They can put a flag on it to make sure it’s rushed if needed.

How long did it take after ur child dla ended that u heard from them? Did they back pay you and did ur carers allowance stopped if u were receiving this? Did ur current dla payment stop while they were deciding on the renewal?

Hi thanks for the reply. It's so frustrating having to wait for months for a decission. I'm just worried about the carers allowance being stopped and having to reapply again etc. I did actually call them last week and they said they can't give a timescale but usually it gets done before the current one expires, tbh the person I got through to seemed like he wasn't bothered, just was reading off a script. I'm now thinking I should have been more firm

Did you get your decision yet?

My DS’s ran out 9th June, they finally renewed on 25th June. They wanted a report from school and didn’t request it until end of May (received the renewal at the beginning of April!) so it took some time for them to get it back and scan it on to the system.

Sorry to tag on to this. I rang today. I sent forms in may and renewal due in sept. The person on the phone said il ‘it is due a decision’ anyone know what that actually means.has it been looked at? He said they not allowed to say anymore if it is with a DM just that i would get a decision before it runs out.

Jen321111 · 31/07/2024 10:44

Hi fah66 I've sent mine in may also as runs out sept and still not heard anything apart from them saying they received form etc I don't understand why it takes so long to be honest. Is anyone else with these dates?

Jen321111 · 15/08/2024 13:10

Me I called yesterday they got form 30th may my claim ends 21st Sept and they said its with decision maker so any day but also could be waiting until week before due to end :(

Fah66 · 15/08/2024 16:13

Thats good hopefully you hear soon. But whenever i ring they dont tell me if it is with a DM or not. They just say you will hear before it is due to expire which is 06/09 and your payments will continue till a decision has been made. Rather frustrating.

@Turab1
Our sons dla ends on the 12th November, so does his carers allowence.
Our DlA renewal was sent back in July, we received a letter on the 15th July asking for husbands Driving licence, passport and bills dated within 6months of our home address and child's birth certificate and passport.
We sent that info back on special delivery the next day, we had a letter a week later saying info received and a decision can take upto 15 weeks, we are now nearly in November and we haven’t heard anything since.
Our carers allowence is also due to end, have you had your decision yet?
Why does it take so long :(

Jayb777 · 04/11/2024 11:55

Hi. Ive had a message saying my child's dla being reviewed.
Is that the same thing as renewal?
Also is the review form the same as the original dla form I did for her, or is it one of these new shorter review forms like for pip?
Thanks

Hi can I ask if anyone in Northern Ireland on this feed? Just wondering is it as many weeks as England and Wales. I have been putting my renewal of from July 24 it due December 24 my daughter has so much complex needs so far I have spent 2weeks and 30hrs. They give you tick boxes and you think this is easy as it's not like the old forms with spaces for examples and information. Then near the back say please add information on to explain. where parents skip as they think the tick is enough. what they need is an answer in DEPTH to get the award right hence why i put it of so long and have spent a weeks work on it. so now mine will be in a pile waiting and run out!!! this is so stress special when there is 3 in our home to fill out. please let me know how you all got on x

“”””””HELP””””””” is my ex tricking me

the money goes in his account so why does he want his name on?

I am I being tricked these are texts from him is it true that they can’t do the renewal because my name is on it not his???

I need you to phone Social Security Scotland tomorrow about “””” Child Disability and confirm you want it in my name as the won’t accept the renewal under me and if and it’s an if I can get a car for “”””””, which I really doubt but you never know, won’t be able to get it if under your name as your disqualified

I told you they wouldn’t process the renewal I have put through and IF she gets fully mobility you won’t be entitled to the car as you are disqualified.

They are already processing the change. This way will speed it up and not hold the renewal up

  • No I am changing because when I phoned them about child renewal they said they couldn’t discuss anything with me as it wasn’t under my name and that I could not do the renewal. So the guy said that he would pass it onto any team and couldn’t say if the payments would stop with the renewal due as he couldn’t discuss it with me. He said that it would make things easier if you were to contact them to say that it’s been transferred over to me instead of them having to investigate UC, CB etc

Hello,

first time poster! Looking for some DLA help. We are lucky enough to receive Middle rate care for our son as well as low rate mobility. We recently did the renewal the first week of march.
Today we have two scheduled payments in our bank for Monday for £469.70 and £206.20. We haven’t received any letters so slightly confused as to what this is? We are also not due DLA on the normal schedule until the end of May.

can anyone shed some light on this for us? The phone line is closed as it’s a weekend and it’s driving me nuts trying to figure it out 😩
thanks!!

Check how many weeks since they received the renewal and divide the amounts you’ve received by the amount of weeks. And then see if you’ve been updated to high rate care high mobility maybe.

Either that or they’ve paid out the end of the claim and you have been unsuccessful with your renewal
