What the hell is this?

It’s huge! I’ve googled but can’t figure out if it’s a naughty Asian hornet which I believe needs reporting. Can Anyone shed any light on what it is please

Asian hornet has a black end. This one doesn't.

Harmless European Hornet. Asian Hornet has dark lower body and yellow legs.

I was worried because there was several very large bees laying dead by the car.

It's not a Hornet . It's not even a European hornet. It's a giant hover fly. Look at the eyes.

Yes - hover fly. No stinger.
