Can the power of Mumsnet get these AirPods back to their rightful owner?

I was on a flight yesterday and before departing the plane, I picked up what I thought were my AirPods.

I have now realised I have two sets of AirPods in my bag and therefore the set I picked up from the floor were actually not mine 😮
I’d love to get them back to their rightful owner.

Did you lose your AirPods on a flight yesterday?
Do you know anybody who did?
Please spread the word.

Probably a stupid question but have you contacted the airline or the airport you landed at to see if anyone has reported them as lost? I mention the airport although you picked them up on the plane, because the owner might not have realised they didn't have them until they'd got home.

Hope you can find the rightful owner.

Good idea. I will contact the airline etc

BottomlessBrunch · 22/05/2024 07:28

Yeah I'd let the airline and if you can the airport you flew in to know.

@Kindnesskindnesskindness
Do they belong to this mumsnetter?

My stolen airpods are at an address about 100km from where I live. WWYD? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/other_subjects/5078934-my-stolen-airpods-are-at-an-address-about-100km-from-where-i-live-wwyd

Bagpiss · 22/05/2024 07:39

Oops didn't see date, lol. 😂

TheWayTheLightFalls · 22/05/2024 07:39

If you’re happy to, some details about the flight would help (where from/to, time).

you start a mumsnet thread before contacting the airline???!

coldcrossbun · 22/05/2024 13:38

We need a little more than 'a flight yesterday' considering how many hundreds of thousands of flights there are everyday, and considering how many people have AirPods and how easy they are to loose, it's probably a fairly regular occurrence.

Could you say where the flight was from/to and the time? Surely that's not too outing considering how big planes are. And you can always ask for the persons boarding pass/booking ref as proof before sending them off if that's what you're worried about.

paprikaforever · 22/05/2024 14:39

well you were committed OP 😆

SirChenjins · 22/05/2024 14:44

What a spooky, random coincidence - I mean, what the chances??

Very true coldcrossbun;
it was a flight from London to Dubai.

The airline have asked me to hand them in at the airport when I leave.

We leave tomorrow (Monday) so quick bump here before I hand them in at the airport in Dubai.

Sometimes worth seeing what name they have by attempting to pair them, i.e. mine are named as my phone number.
Might be worth keeping them powered up and leave them in your hotel room, and let reception know if anyone comes looking for them.

I found a dog tracker a few years ago, took it home, charged it and a few days later someone came and collected it.

Do I need to go as far as actually pairing them to get a name/no/anything?

When I get them out of the case I get a message saying “not your air pods”

Do I need to go further than that in the process?

You don't need to pair them, I think they will share its location via your iPhone automatically. If you pair them they wont be able to search for them.

Thank you
