I'm thinking of getting this for my (nearly) 7 year old.

Can someone tell me what the score is in terms of music.

I don't understand all this tech stuff, but my Daughter loves listening to music and she would likely just want to say 'play Lorde' or whoever. How does that work? Does it need to be connected to my phone to do this? I don't want to spend my day changing songs and looking up different artists for her.

Apologies for the cluelessness!!

You either pay for prime music where she can ask for anything that she wants or keep the free version which plays ads and doesn't have everything.

You need a paid subscription to a music service like Amazon Music or Spotify. Then you can log in to that via the Alexa app, and she can ask for specific songs or genres. You can also make playlists of her favourite songs on Spotify/AM, and ask Alexa to play that.

Without a paid subscription Alexa will usually play songs like the ones you ask for, but not the specific ones, if that makes sense.

My 10 yr old has one in her room. We have linked it to our Spotify account, so she just says 'play Disney playlist' or 'play vampire by Olivia Rodrigo' and it plays. It's especially good for setting routines, and you can set a bedtime routine where it turns off after so many minutes.

If you haven't got a Spotify premium account, I don't know whether it would be as good.

Sorry, misread as we have a Google nest, but I'm guessing an echo dot is similar.

Oh amazing! That definitely sounds doable!!

Thank you
