Help - quick cooking question

I have put a frozen shepherds pie in the oven on gas mark 6 for 45-50 mins as requested on the cooking guidelines. Unfortunately 40 minutes into the cooking time i have noticed that on the box it tells me to "defrost thoroughly and cook as if chilled". Aaaarghhh - would it be dangerous to serve or should i just extend the cooking time? and if so to what?

not dangerous no but do extend the cooking time - and stick a skewer or something into it to make sure it's piping hot all the way through. You might have to cover the top with foil to stop it burning
