Mobile hairdressers...how much do you charge for a childs haircut?

I have a friend who is returning back to mobile hairdressing as her daughter is doing more nursery hours and off to school this yr.

She just wants to know on average how much she should charge for a childs haircut, or how much people would be prepared to pay really. She cut DS3's hair on Saturday and did a fab job.

We are in Hampshire (I don't know if charges would vary from place to place)

Thanks Cod. She was thinking around the £7 -£8 mark. It gets expensive when you have 3 of them to get haircuts doesn't it...well it doesn't for me cos I have a lovely hairdresser friend

My mobile lady does dd2 ((3yo) full cut for £5, fringe trim free. My Cut and BD is around £20.

I pay £5 for my children (6 and 4) in a hairdressers. Are mobile hairdressers more or less expensive?

Squirdle · 01/04/2008 13:36

Well they are definately cheaper for adults around here. My friend is going to charge £20 for a cut and blow dry for ladies...you couldn't get that cheaper than £35 at the very least in the salons around here. Even childrens haircuts at a good hairdressers are expensive now. And if you don't go to a good one (a mistake I made with DS2 last yr) you end up regretting it. The one we went to last yr was awful, she wanted to do DS3 as well but I said no!

I reckon my hairdresser uses them as a loss leader. Lots of young families around here and she is undercutting the opposition. Adult prices aren't cheaper.

My friend was quoted £24.50 to get her 5yr old dd's hair cut yesterday! Salon though, not mobile hairdresser. She swiftly canclled the appointment.

mine does my hair (dry cut, simple style) for £5, and charges me an extra £1 if I want my 2yo tidying up over the ears/back (I do the rest with clippers)

My hairdresser does all of ours at one visit - 2 toddlers, mine, and adult daughter's. She charges £5 for each adult and nothing for toddlers, which is insane. We always make her take extra money! I have always thought she was undercharging.

I left our salon last year after they charged £25 for dd's hair (8yr old). Plus they buthchered it - blew dried her curls out, then layered it . Paid £8 yesterday in salon for lovely blunt bob thing.
