MN on Face Book

I'm not sure if this has been raised before but I keep getting threads from MN posted onto my Face Book feed. I don't follow MN on FB so obviously it's some sort of algorithm. A couple I've commented on have been shared. I'm not comfortable with this.....

Mumsnet is a public website and anything you post online can be shared elsewhere by Mumsnet, members or anyone able to view posts.

If you don't want the slightest chance of your identity being discovered then don't post anything that could identify you.

Nothing you can do about it. Other than not post. Once you post on here you your post is fair game. Its why so many threads are lifted by lazy journalists

What's the issue? Mumsnet is not some kind of private support group, it's a huge webpage. Of course they're going to share popular or interesting threads to drive traffic to the page.

It's up to the user not to share too much if they're worried about being recognised.

If you’re worried that people will see your secret views on society etc then maybe don’t post on the internet?

Do the FB posts mention your MN username, eg "Hey Conniebycandlelight, here's the result of the poll on your thread about..."? If not, I wouldn't worry too much.

I'm not worried about anything I've commented on I just wasn't aware that this happened.

I'm not worried about my secret views on society....I just thought that MN operated in a pull rather than push way

It's a public forum with associated social media pages across various platforms (not just Facebook), which obviously makes links to the MN content, including conversation threads.

The fact that this happens has not been hidden away. All of the social media accounts are public.
