Computer Dunce - Any websites to help ?

I have decided to take the bull by the horns and become less of a techno-phobe ....
Are there any websites that can help me get to grips with Computer basics ? I cannot really commit at the moment with a college / tech course but would like to have a potter at home. Thanks

Crystaltips, if you want to start by getting to grips with the internet, this course is just the best:

I've done a fair bit of research on courses on computer basics on the internet (part of my job) and I have yet to find something that is both easy to use and relevant...that's free. I think you will find that by doing the BBC course you will pick up a lot about IT generally.

I second that, the BBC website is just crammed full of useful bits and pieces, I'm forever pointing students in that direction.
