Do you want to know because you already have it and want to use it for the right purpose, or so you have the right search term to find one to buy?

I’d say it was a latte spoon.

Cocktail mixer spoon?

Good at getting jam out of the bottom of a jar spoon

Is it old? If so, it could be a small marrow scoop - for scooping cooked bone marrow out at the table. The ‘bowl’ is usually a bit longer on these, but the general shape is similar.

It looks similar to a snuff spoon I have that my granddad used to use.

I reckon it's from a cocktail making set, more of a stirrer than a spoon.

I inherited it, I love it and I just want to know what type of spoon + it is very useful to get things out of the bottom of a jar and I haven't stopped using it for tea since I got it even though it is not a teaspoon but I just like it. It's probably for cocktails but I am not 100%

It looks similar to a thing I have that's for measuring out small amounts of chemicals in a lab. Or could have been made to go with a salt cellar?

Yes, I was going to say it looks like a sort of spatula.
It's an excellent shape for jar scraping. I was thinking I needed some more long-handled spoons, I only seem to have one of my original half dozen left but this is an improvement on the normal teaspoon shape.

I think it's a marrow spoon.

Edit
On second thoughts, no, too short.

I was hoping this would be about Apostle spoons, DMIL has a set of 12 in an old box.

I think that it is a laboratory spatula, a very useful bit of kit indeed.

I don't think it is a marrow spoon, as they usually have a narrow elongated bowl/scoop at one end.

@sickofworkbutneedwork Has it got any markings, maker's name etc?

It doesn't look scoopy enough to be a Stilton spoon.

Is it brass? If so it isn't for food really.

I think it is a chemical
Measuring spoon.

LauderSyme · 15/01/2024 17:38

My first thought was a spice measuring spoon. The bowl doesn't look big enough to be a latte spoon. I bought a set of long handled teaspoons cos I love oversized mugs, they're very handy.

Re earlier post re silicon spatula; they are indeed brilliant for so many kitchen jobs!

OP, I can see why you like it 😊

We used to use spoons just like that for measuring out salts in the lab
