Hoping someone could help

Im 25 and my son is 4 I'm on universal credit and have recently started seeing someone ( he works full time) do I tell uc we are together? How would it effect my payments

Also me and my son live with my mum who is a carer that claims housing benefit would this affect my mum in any way if my boyfriend was to stay more than 4 nights a week

Would really appreciate any advice

Thanks x

On the old system there used to be a rule that if a partner was staying at the house for 3 nights or more, then it’d be considered that they were living at the property.

That rule no longer exists but if your partner is paying for any bills at your house, then you’ll need to change your claim to a shared claim. If your partner pays rent, council tax and all other bills for the property that they live in, then they can stay at the house 7 nights a week if they wanted.

As far as I’m aware, you don’t have to inform them once you’re in a relationship if they’re NOT living with you Or paying bills at your property
