does anyone know if this is a serious problem (ie costly?)

i can live with it if it doesn't get worse but if it only costs a bit to fix would prefer to fix it at next service

Do you mean when you move forward (or try to)?

redclover79 · 18/03/2008 16:34

will ask dp (mechanic) when he gets home!

oh thanks redclover

no I mean when I first start the car .. you need to put your foot on brake and press a button on 'gearstick' to get out of P and into D ... only it won't budge for about a minute and I have to rev engine then go back to pressing on brake which is frustrating

gear lever's knackered apparently! You'll need a new gear stick, could be expensive depending on the car... hth!

thank you and please thank your DH for me.

It's a Vauxhall Zafira ... does he know whether it needs changing straight away? Or will it be ok for a bit? Any idea how much roughly?

dp works on fords, so he's not sure of cost! iirc ladyoftheflowers dp/dh is a mechanic, don't know if he'd have a better idea!? would it be covered under warranty?
