Mazda 3 compared to Mini Hatch

I currently have a Mini Hatch but the boot is obviously tiny. I have been looking online at the Mazda 3, as they're a very good price and cheap to insure.

Can anyone either advise how the boot space of the Mazda 3 compares to the Mini Hatch, or tell me if the Mazda 3 is decent enough for a weekly shop (the Mini isn't).

I am on my second Mazda 3 and love it. It’s a really safe fun car to drive. I have a diesel 2.2 litre and although it averages about 55 miles to the gallon , I don’t think the insurance group on mine is particularly low. Though the tax is only £20 per year!
I think the boot is around double the capacity of the mini. I certainly have no problem getting a weekly shop for 4 in, you can always drop the seats down. The boot hatch does slope at the back though, so bear that in mind. Hope this helps

That's fantastic. Thank you so much. I think it's the same 1.2 litre that are cat 2 for insurance.

No problem . My current one has done 90000 miles and my old one was up to nearly 200000 when I swapped it. They have been so reliable. I have only ever had normal wear and tear maintenance on them. If you need any more info , please let me know

That's so good to know. I bought a 10yo Mini in August for £8k (it has every option you can think of) but I am sick of hearing about how unreliable they are and how the engine will blow up on me. I have seen 3 and 4 year old Mazda 3s for £9k with a very low monthly payment, so thinking of trading in.

I need something small, as I have to parallel park on a busy street for work but I also need something with room in the back for DS. They look really smart and look fun to drive.
