Washing Machine Help!

The past 2 washes Ive done has left my washing ringing wet and with a large pool of water in the bottom of the machine.

Its an old Homark built in one and I have no idea where the manual is. The buttons are as they should be and Im not doing anything different than I normally do.

What can I do to keep my washing from getting soaked without buying a new washer?!

"What can I do to keep my washing from getting soaked without buying a new washer?"

Get a repair man in.

2 possibilities: Either the pump is broken/blocked or the drain is blocked.

It sounds like it isn't draining all the water away for some reason.

Run your hottest wash with some soap crystals in the drum and see if that helps.

Great stuff thanks

Did it work?

throckenholt · 16/03/2008 16:39

have you checked the filter ? Mine was doing someting similar and not spinning as well - and I was all ready to ditch it and buy a lovely new one - when DH asked if I had checked the filter lately - so I did - and it was completely bunged up with fluff and hardness.

It now works as well as it ever did ().

Does it make any strange noises? I lost track of how many times I opened a pump to take out the coins stuck inside.

Sometimes a washer will have a little round plate on the front at the bottom. Behind that will be a little unscrewable cap to drain the water out and clean out the buttons, coins, bit of string.

Other kinds you have to slide out the washer (with the power off) and take the back panel off.

The most awkward ones need to be tipped up and held (they are heavy!) while someone reaches under it to take the cap off and stick a bowl under it quickly. Laying it down while it is still partly full could send water where you don't want it to go.

I was going to suggest the pump filter too - mine is behind a little round plate at the front, just as Grs describes; it also has a useful little hose there so you can empty the water out before you start (but if yours doesn't, you can still do it with the drain hose and a bucket - finish with something like a roasting tin on the floor to get the last dregs out)

My machine helpfully spits coins onto the door seal, but the filter has jammed with a hairgrip before.

DrivingMissHannah · 16/03/2008 17:13

sorry to sorta ambush your thread but mine is making a drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr sound its really load as if its a motobike reving in my kitchen!!! its done it ever since we moved house, dp did drop a screw driver innit but that s sorted out now lol (its a long story!!) any advice?? we dont think its the belt slipping, what else can it be??

Greyriverside · 16/03/2008 17:32

Probably the pump/filter but is it standing on all four feet? sometimes they are adjustable to make it even.

smugmumofboys · 16/03/2008 17:49

Is the drum actually turning round? If not, you need new brushes.

Lilymaid · 16/03/2008 18:01

Some suggestions here

throckenholt · 16/03/2008 18:06

mine was making a drr noise too - when it was supposed to be spinning - just sitting there going drrr drrr .

As I ssaid before - the filter was comletely bunged up. The filter on mine is behind a little flap in the front at the bottom - and the filter itself is indescribably phalic - it always makes me laugh and wonder who designed it .

bubblagirl · 16/03/2008 18:12

my washing machine doing same but i have to drain from filter after every wash before it will spin still saves me from shelling out on new one just yet

DrivingMissHannah · 16/03/2008 19:20

yeah its spinning but really wildly lol it looks as tho its about to take off but it doesnt move it sonds a lil rattly but i have to go upstairs and iron with music up load as it makes soooo much noise.

DrivingMissHannah · 16/03/2008 19:21
