Hello,
I read a poem on a random instagram post a few weeks ago, which really moved me and I can’t stop thinking about it. However I’ve no idea how to find it again so I’m hoping someone here might recognise it from my description. It’s words written as a mother to try and distract/comfort their child while they’re sheltering in their house in war time. It was linked to an Israel/Palestine post but it may not been written specifically for the recent conflict.
It repeats the phrase ‘shut/close your eyes’ multiple times and has phrases like ‘that’s not a bomb you hear’, ‘that’s not a boot on the stairs’, ‘count my heartbeats’, ‘think of x time/memory’, ‘that’s not someone coming into the room’. And it finishes with ‘shut your eyes and when you wake up you’ll have a new life’.
