Its a Medical Secretarial qualification and I am looking into studying it from home. Have posted in FE but thought I might get more of a response in here.

Anyone done it? Did it improve your employment prospects and how did you study it - from home or at college etc. Many thanks.

Hi AlMummy, I have also been looking for AMSPAR info today. I've seen the actual Amspar site and they don't appear to start at the first level - I saw a level 3 qual? Also searched for medical secretary quals and saw courses at Pitmans website and learndirect website. There don't seem to be any prices shown - looks like it might be high and quite a long course. I am going to try and ring Amspar next week. Good luck 2 you 2!

Hi
I got this in 1994, I studied full time in a hospital based college for 2 years.

Have been working in the NHS since as a med sec but recently left to work for a private hospital, from home.

Thanks for your replies - have just seen them. KitKats I think that there is a Medical Receptionist qual that is a lower level. I cant seem to find anywhere that is offering it. I have worked as a medical secretary for about 2 years previously so would start at level 3 - if I could find somewhere that is. I think I am going to study the Medical Terminology qual because you can home study that, which is great for me just now. You are still a member of AMSPAR and can put it on your CV etc so I think it would be useful.
