Is it true that you can be fined for not celebrating Thanksgiving? I find this quite absurd. How would anyone know or be able to check?

Come on now.

@idealgift it is actually a serious question. A friend of mine is convinced it is true. I'm trying to settle an argument.

No. We can’t be fined for not celebrating Thanksgiving. That would defeat the purpose of our democracy.

hennybeans · 21/11/2023 09:15

Of course not. Ridiculous.

mind blowing that adults actually converse like this

BoohooWoohoo · 21/11/2023 09:18

Of course this isn’t true.
Think about it… how could they know considering that Americans live all over the world? What constitutes a celebration? What about the people who work that day? What about people who live in the US but aren’t Americans?

JerkintheMerkin · 21/11/2023 09:22

These are all things I told them. Not sure where some people's minds are at tbh. Thanks all for clearing that up.

Your “friend” 😂

JerkintheMerkin · 21/11/2023 09:27

@idealgift I'm definitely not asking for myself 😂. It just sounds so stupid because my friend is adamant and in between the laughing I just wanted clarification.

Your friend sounds like she needs some support OP! 😂
