or is there something about christmas, christmas songs/carols etc, that make you feel like crying....in a good way though....or is it just me
Took DD to a christmas show yesterday, which ended with santa coming on stage and all the cast singing chrismas songs. DD was mesmerised and totally loved it. I was stitting doing everything I could to stop myself crying????? Think the dad on the other side of me thought I was a bit mad sniffing away......

Lockets, dd sung Away In A Manger at her nursery Xmas play. Did all the actions (rocking Baby Jesus/stars in sky/laying down his head). I had tears streaming down face watching her. She is OBSESSED with it now - wants to sing it all the time.

Anything christmasy makes me cry, I thought it was just me, I live on the high street and a big sleigh with Santa goes by everyday playing christmasy music, my kids always go to the window to wave at him and I have to hold back the tears! I cried today when I watched that christmas carol thing that was on, and the grinch!

AH! for as long as i can remember carols have made me cry!
I remember my first Christmas as a student nurse. I was working on a male surgical ward all over Christmas and new year.
On Christmas day i was on a late shift and the hospital carolers came around the ward, i went into the sluice and cried my eyes out. When people asked me why, i couldnt answer them because i just dont know why! Bizarre!!!!
A bloody good cry does you good!

My DS is ill so I let him watch the Grinch on video yesterday, then I discover it is on TV today so of cause he had to watch it again, I'm all grinched out!!

I am not a sentimental person - Christmas in general had never made me cry (well, not that sort of crying, anyway).

Until last year, when dd1 had her first Nativity play and they all sang "Away In A Manger". I am now incapable of hearing "Away In A Manger" - no matter what the context - without bursting into tears. dd1 has now taught it to dd2, who sings it in the most beautiful baby voice, and that only makes me cry even more! I did it last night at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast, when the audience were asked to join in with the carols.

It's most embarrassing and I had, in fact, come onto MN this evening specifically to post a message to Mums of older children, asking them if I'm going to be like this for the rest of my life!?!

yes, i reckon you are

I cried at DSs first Christmas play at nursery last year (I cried again this year but think it was more tears of laughter !!).
Took him to see Santa on Saturday and it was done so nicely (Santa & Mrs Claus telling a story) that it made my eyes fill up again. Thankfully it was dark & I don't think anyone saw !! Sssshhh don't tell anyone

I think we have discovered something new here ... there must be a name for it, Carolitus or something - I LOVE carols but I fill up completely and get a big lump in my throat and end up miming in case I blub out loud. I thought I was an over-emotional wreck - seems I'm not alone in my madness!!!

FestiveFrex · 20/12/2004 20:56

Went to the infants Christmas Carol Service this evening and I was blubbing before they even started singing!

I've met my sobbing soulmates at last - my RL life friends think I am ridiculous but here I am quite normal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
