Worst stomach ever !!!

Oh my god. I have had the most horrendous time. I've been under the weather the last few weeks with a cold and a bit of a phleghy chest. Anyway on Wednesday afternoon I started with chills , hot on and off etc. Thursday and bam ! Diarreah like I have never known ! To the point where sometimes I've not even made it to the toilet. I keep getting a really sharp painful cramp which is my warning sign I need to go ! Sorry for the info, it's bright green and like water. It's now Saturday and I'm still the same. I think I've maybe had food poisoning, my other half thinks neurovirus. I have only thrown up once which was yesterday, but I did have a temp. I dont have a temp now. Its just the painful cramps and Diarreah. Meh, when do you go to the doc ? Do I just let it runs its course ???

DH and I suspect we had norovirus a few years ago from mussels. We both had no warning the diarrhoea was coming and it was awful. There is another thread about salmonella which I will link.

I mean to say that if you could see a GP and take a sample, you'd at least get it checked and know what you've got. Esp as you have a fever.

Sounds awful you poor thing.. Many years ago I had the stomach from hell .. I'd been to Glastonbury and got E Coli... Have a look here

Get a sample sent off with your gp. I had salmonella a couple years ago and it was very similar to how you describe, I wasn’t sick but had the worst diarrhoea and the pain before going to the loo was up there with labour pains 😬, I ended up in A&E and then my test results came back a couple days later showing I had salmonella. Took me ten days or more to recover.

Thanks everyone, even though the pain isn't always there when it comes it hurts like hell !!!. I think I'm going to ring doctor on Monday and get them to do a test, honestly have never felt like this in my life !

Sounds like it could be norovirus - I had it over 10 years ago and still find the memories quite traumatising. I ended up just lying on the bathroom floor during the worst of it as was too weak to keep dragging myself back and forth to bed.

Do not go to the GP in person, even to drop off a sample - they do not want you there around vulnerable people, it's highly infectious and 2 days of v&d will finish off a vulnerable / elderly person.

Keep fluids going in. Try and get some calories even if it's coke/lucozade. Once you've been stable for ~ 4 hours, try some plain food - dry toast or plain rice - just a little bit and see if you can keep that where it should be for an hour. If it stays put, try to eat some more. It may take a while for your digestive system and energy levels to fully return to normal.

I'm going to the toilet at least twice every hour ! It just dont stop. I cant eat the thought of food makes me want to be sick, I've just been drinking water and coke. I was really hoping it would settle down by today but no such luck. Not sure how long my poor bottom can cope.

It doesn’t sound like norovirus, norovirus usually only lasts 48 hours, OP has the symptoms of food poisoning and if it’s lasting more than 3 or 4 days she should take a sample to be tested.

If your still unwell Monday do call the GP.

Have you done a covid test?

Yes been testing for covid, done another one this morning and was negative. Its making me so miserable now. I know its probably one of them things you have to ride out but I can't even sleep properly because I get woken up in pain and needing to rush to the toilet

Green diarrhea suggests viral gastroenteritis OP. You might want to ring 111 for advice.

I was taking paracetamol the last 2 days for my temp etc. But haven't taken any now since yesterday. Although I'm wondering if it might help with cramps. There are so many stomach things it could be ! Think what has thrown is how it's very bad diarreah and not vomiting

It could be campylobacter which is a really nasty stomach bug that can last beyond a week. I've had that a couple of times before and your symptoms seem to fit this.
As others have said it's best to get it tested at your GP surgery. If the test is positive, you may be asked where you've eaten outside of your home, including takeout, prior to noticing symptoms.

I feel loads better in myself but no Improvement in my stomach or the cramps

Just got my results back and I have Campylobacter , wouldn't wish this on anyone !

I had Salmonella and Campylobacter from undercooked chicken years ago on holiday in Portugal. It really was grim. Hope you're on the mend soon.

Thought it would be this or similar. My dd had this a couple years ago and it lasted a month or so, she then became lactose intolerant for it and had bouts of diarrhoea on and off for a year (until we cut out lactose).

I've got to have anti biotics. I'm hoping it sorts out soon, my poor bum is in a right state !
