What should I do about dd1's Christmas present?

Dd1's (3.5) main Christmas present this year is going to be my old dolls house - I got it in the seventies/early eighties, and it was 'modern' at the time, so not Victorian or anything like that, and the decor is very seventies/eighties as well - patterned wallpaper mainly. It comes in three parts: Two storeys, then another storey, and then a part with a garage.
Now I'm not sure what to do: Should I try and 'decorate' the house before giving it to dd - ie put in new wallpaper or whatever? Dh reckons it doesn't matter that the decor is old-fashioned, as dd1 is too young to be au fait with decorating tastes .
And the other thing: Shall I give her the whole lot in one go at Christmas, or should I just give her the top part for now and keep the other two storeys for her birthday in May?
Would really appreciate some opinions, as I can't make up my mind and dh and I disagree!

Why not give her the whole lot exactly as it is for Xmas, then for her birthday you can redecorate?

What about giving her it as it is and then redecorating it together. She would have a great time choosing patterns, paper etc.

ooo what a lovely idea! if i were you, i would leave it as it were, and then maybe ask your dd if she wanted to change the wallpaper so it could be something you could do together perhaps? i would probably give her the other parts for her birthday but it depends on whether you think she'll be that bothered if you gave them to her for her birthday? plus if you're stuck for something to give her for her birthday, thats a good idea, but as its in may, you have plenty of time to think about it! xxx
