Passport Applications - Interview

My poor mum is having a right time trying to obtain a passport.

First she sent the application without a birth certificate (bloke on helpline told her she wouldn't need to send one) so it got sent back...then when she sent the birth certificate they said that her photos had not been signed properly so she had to re-do that...then when she sent it off AGAIN they decided that she also needed to send them her marriage/divorce certificates.

So, getting slightly tired of it all she sent off every official certificate/document she could find...

Today they sent her a letter asking for her to attend an interview

She's really upset about it (she's depressed anyway, this is icing on cake) and she's stressing like mad over the interview.

Has anyone been for an interview? how long after that is she likely to actually get a passport??

nutty did last week if you have a search under her name - think she got it a few days alter.

Hiya, as Liz said, I had to have a passport interview and it is fine, nothing to worry about at all.

Basically, you go along, speak to man at desk who checks you look like your pic, asks you to spell you whole name and asks your dob. He then gives you a ticket and when called you go to a booth for interview.

In the actual interview you are asked questions to help them confim your identity. I was asked the following..

• Name (had to spell it again)
• Current and previous address
• Dad's dob
• Mum's dob
• Countersignitures dob (which i didn't know)
• Countersigs place of work (which I also didn't know)

Then i was asked a few credit questions which are also just to help them confirm that you are you, so they ask if you have a bank account, credit card etc, ccj's.

They then go away and check all of this.

I got my passport 2 days after the interview in the end.
