FB market scam?

I'm selling a kids bike on Facebook marketplace and have been contacted by someone wanting to send a FEDEX collection service to get it but saying I will need to pay an insurance cost to the driver. They say they'll add it to the purchase price so I won't be out of pocket but I'm suspicious. It feels like this is a scam but I don't know how they would actually benefit. The bike is only £10 so any insurance seems excessive to me!

Has anyone come across a scam like this or am I just being overly suspicious?

Just ignore and block. They could easily find a cheap bike local to them without all this fuss. Trust your gut and block them. You don't need to understand a scam for it to be a scam.

Yes it's a scam and a well known one too. Tell them cash only, they'll soon go away

Well known scam

Scam. Block and ignore. Basically they'll pay. Collect the bike. Then claim the payment back. If you want to go ahead insist on cash payment on collection by Fedex

I always write NO COURIERS now in all my listings because the first people to respond ( usually quite quickly and for full price) then tell me how busy they are, or they're out of the country, and want to send a courier. Now it's cash only and collect in person.

100% scam

Thanks all. I've blocked the person and arranged the sale to a local mum who's coming herself to pick it up tomorrow evening.
