can anyone apply to a housing association or do you have to be referred through your local council? i have put my name down for a council house but wondered if i can apply directly to the local housing associations aswell or if the council refer you if they think you are eligible. or is it different in different areas?

SOme HA have a list, and some you have to be referred via the council. I was put forward for this HA house via the council

how would i find out a list of the local HAs and which ones i can apply to directly.

google housing associations and your town (or your council website may have a list) and I guess ring round them all.

You phone them. They'll tell you if they only take council referrals or if they hold their own lists too.
