Has my friend got a problem with alcohol?

My friend has always been abit wild and 'different'. She is married, is 44 years old now. I am abit worried she drinks, i think, a bottle of wine most evenings, gets very loud and sometimes abit 'balshy'. Anyway she had a big row with her hubbie a couple of nights ago, after having a few drinks, and punched him in the face, the poor bloke now has a swollen nose and black eye. Anyway, they seemed to get over that and i went out with her and a couple of close friends the other night for a quiet meal, she sat and drank loads of vodka, which was fine. The next morning she rang me, telling me how she was pleased she was 'good' the night before, not drinking or eating much as she is on a diet, then she said she was glad she only had one glass of wine!!! Well....i didn't know what to say as she had LOADS of vodka, i called a friend who was out with us and asked her to clarify whether i was dreaming or not and she said no our friend had been drinking and drunk by the end of the night!!! Is this a problem? Am i making too much of it? Alot of other things have happened in her life, which is probably down to drinking too much. Just thought someone on here might have some advice to give.....

But what can you say Blossom, you are damned of you do and damned if you don't in this situation.

Thanks for the reply violetskies, yes not alot i can say is there really. I kind of wondered if this is usual behaviour for someone who might have an alcohol problem, you know denying they are actually drinking?? I don't know it seems such a shame..

I think being physically aggresive as a result of drinking should be a BIG wake up call !

and yes, addicts or people with dependeny problems do mnimise how much they consume.

Not sure there is much you can do tho'

Thanks lemonstartree, i thought that was probably the case, just need to hear other peoples points of view. What to do though?? This is such a problem as she is lovely and has a lovely dd and dh.....but this is making them turn against her
