Why can't I sell my car!!

Didn't realise it was so bloody difficult to sell a car privately. Thought you just put the ad in autotrader and waited for the offers to come flooding in.

My car has been in for over a month now, also on ebay - and not one genuine call. Is it the wrong time of year?

Anyone have any tips? i wouldn't mind, but its a really nice car as well!

it is a bad time of year to sell anything non-christmas related

could you hold on until after christmas?

Is it on the auto trader site ???

If it is, then do a link to it on here just incase it takes anyones fancy.

tatcity · 14/12/2004 13:27

Yes I could do - its just making me tense! As DH has ordered a new car for me which is cheaper and more practical to run - just wanted to get rid of it. Might be sensible to wait a month or so though.

Seriously, if you can afford to, try selling it after Christmas

tatcity · 14/12/2004 13:28

Christmascracker, thanks I will try that, didn't think you were allowed! Not sure I know how to do it but will try.

sorry, that should have said "if you can afford to wait"

ChristmasCracker · 14/12/2004 13:30

Yes you are allowed as far as i know.

You could put it in the for sale section with a description and piccie.

tatcity, have you looked at the autotrader website for cars similar to yours, check the prices they are advertising theirs for and then also key in the mileage area around where you live, to see if many people are selling cars like yours. If there are lots of them, then perhaps people are spoilt for choice and are going for the best price, have you priced yourself out of the market? If it just you and your car and your price, perhaps just wait until after Christmas.

saintlysecur · 14/12/2004 17:41

definitly to do with xmas!

I have a car out frount at the mo, just sitting there waitingto be sold-just when we could really use the money, still I don't see the point in even trying till next year (but remember-people have no money in Jan, so often best to wait till Feb...)
