We are doing some decorating and my DH calls the grey F&B paint Elephant’s Willy. Made me laugh so much when he first came out with it.

What silly names do you give things for a giggle?

Also, just wondering, why isn’t there a MN topic humour/silly stuff?

DH and I call ready meals anorexic gerbil meals after an old Ben Elton routine.

And occasions when you really shouldn't laugh but can't help it are called a giggle loop (after an episode of the sitcom Coupling 20-odd years ago). So is a stack of pint glasses, for the same reason.

We call J-cloths "peefs" because "peef" is the sound for something smelly in DH's language, and he once said it when he picked up an old J-cloth and sniffed it🤣

We also call stuff after people who we associate with them. So the local chippy is called the Anderson chippy because we once saw our friend Dan Anderson in it. The big disposable foil tray we keep recycling is called the Avital, as our friend Avital gave it to us.

we call the kitchen utensil, egg/fish slice thingy a plonker, not sure why, I think it came from Only Fools & Horses.

When my DS was little and Harry Potter first came out he used to call it 'Hairy Bottom'.

This stuck but unfortunately I am now using Harry Potter as a basis for some literacy lessons with my literary class and I have to really concentrate on how I say it!!
